Klarway + Canvas: supervision without friction
Step-by-step guide to activating auditable proctoring in Canvas via LTI 1.3, without modifying existing courses or exams.
How does Klarway integrate with Canvas?
Klarway connects to Canvas as a standard LTI 1.3 tool. The institution adds the integration from Canvas administration, configures it once, and from then on any exam can activate Klarway from the exam settings. Typical deployment between 2 and 10 business days.
How to integrate Klarway with Canvas

Schedule the initial technical meeting
The Klarway integrations team reviews with the Canvas administrator the account configuration, available LTI permissions and privacy policies applicable to the institution.

Obtain Klarway LTI credentials
Klarway provides the client ID, authentication URL, token URL and public JWK of the environment assigned to the institution. These credentials are tenant-specific and remain stable.

Register Klarway as a Developer Key in Canvas
From the Canvas account administration, create an LTI-type Developer Key with the credentials provided by Klarway. The administrator confirms the scopes and saves the key.

Install the LTI tool in the account or sub-account
With the Developer Key active, add Klarway as an External App to the main account or the corresponding sub-account using the Client ID. This makes it available for all courses within the chosen scope.

Activate Klarway in a pilot exam
In a test course, the instructor activates Klarway from the exam settings. Selects the plan (Start, Plus or Pro) and the appropriate rigor level.

Distribute the Chrome extension to students
Students receive instructions to install the Chrome extension and the link to the exam. When entering the exam in Canvas, the extension activates automatically.

Validate the flow with a test session
A complete exam session confirms biometric validation, correct recording and report generation. Only then is the real exam opened to the full cohort.

Review the first report from the Klarway panel
The academic team accesses the panel, reviews the flagged incidents and validates the report format. Closes the onboarding cycle.
