How does Klarway integrate with Blackboard?
Klarway integrates with Blackboard Learn via LTI 1.3 (or Building Blocks for on-premise installations). The institution registers the tool once and any exam can activate Klarway from the assessment settings. Typical deployment between 3 and 10 business days.
How to integrate Klarway with Blackboard

Schedule the initial technical meeting
The Klarway integrations team reviews with the Blackboard administrator the installed version (SaaS or on-premise), the LTI permissions enabled in the tenant and applicable internal policies.

Define the integration method
For Blackboard Learn SaaS, LTI 1.3 is the preferred method. For on-premise installations prior to Blackboard Learn 3900, Building Blocks can be used. The Klarway team provides specific guidance according to the version.

Register Klarway as an LTI tool in Blackboard
From the Blackboard system administration, register Klarway as an external LTI provider with the provided credentials: client ID, launch URL, redirect URL and public JWK.

Enable the tool for courses or the institution
The administrator enables the tool at the institution or course level according to internal policy. This makes Klarway available in the exam settings of the courses in scope.

Activate Klarway in a pilot exam
In a test course, the instructor accesses the assessment settings and activates Klarway as the proctoring tool. Defines the plan (Start, Plus or Pro) and the rigor level.

Distribute the Chrome extension to students
Students receive the Chrome extension installation link and the exam instructions. When entering the exam in Blackboard, the extension activates automatically.

Validate with a complete test session
A complete exam session confirms biometric validation, recording and correct report generation before opening the real exam to the full cohort.

Review the first report from the Klarway panel
The academic team accesses the panel, reviews the flagged incidents and validates the evidence format. This closes the onboarding cycle.
